Rising Animator Bobby Chen Compares Life to Game Levels — “Find Your Mission on Earth and Understand the Game of Life”

Did you know? Before coming to Earth, everyone is like a role-playing game character with pre-assigned skill points. Some are gifted communicators, some are naturally brave, and some—like me—struggle even to express themselves at first. Bobby Chen’s unique opening instantly captured the audience’s attention.

Bobby Chen, a graduate of the animation program at Sheridan College, Canada, shares how he unlocked seven key stages in his life step by step, ultimately rediscovering his main life mission.

On July 29, 2025, the Tai Ji Men in Toronto, Canada, hosted a special life wisdom-sharing event. Bobby Chen, a graduate of the animation program at Sheridan College, delivered a compelling presentation titled “Finding Your Mission on Earth.” Using a unique “game level” metaphor, he shared how he gradually unlocked seven key stages in his life to rediscover his main quest. Chen candidly revealed that the true catalyst behind his personal growth and level-ups at each stage was his mentor—Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze.

Level-Up System × Master’s Wisdom = Unlocking Life’s Hidden Power-Ups From poor health and extreme anxiety about speaking to confidently sharing on international stages, Bobby reflected that at every critical turning point in his life, his Shifu offered just the right guidance and encouragement—like meeting a hidden NPC in a game who gives you a legendary item and helps you level up instantly.

When he was once disheartened by failing to get into his dream school, he applied the heart Kung Fu taught by his Shifu to calm and center himself. As a result, his ability to absorb knowledge significantly improved, and within three months, his score jumped from 37 to 91, earning him admission to Sheridan College—often referred to as the "Harvard of Animation." He once hesitated to follow his Shifu abroad to promote love and peace, worrying it might interfere with his studies. Yet through his Shifu’s encouragement, he came to a sudden realization: where there is heart, there is a way.

Bobby’s three favorite teachings from his Shifu have become his ultimate cheat codes in the game of life: “Leverage strength to achieve more with less.” — In every situation, apply the most efficient wisdom to reach your goal with minimal effort. “Go with the flow and steer the course.” — Instead of going against the current, use the right approach to achieve twice the result with half the effort. “Surpass, exceed, and transcend yourself.” — Each time you overcome your inner fears, you level up.

Bobby said with heartfelt sincerity that he believes everyone comes to Earth with a mission, and it was his Shifu’s guidance that helped him find his path earlier than most.

Knowing Yourself is the Key to Mastering Life Many people spend their whole lives without truly understanding themselves, Bobby said. He considers himself fortunate to have grown up in the Tai Ji Men environment, where daily learning of self-reflection and adjustment became the most powerful level-up mechanism.

He likens life to a long-term strategy game, where skills can be developed and missions can change, but only by truly knowing yourself can you choose the right main quest, keep leveling up, and create your own legend.
