A lifelong sports enthusiast, Amy was a university basketball player and tap dancer at the age of 18. Physical activity was a vital part of her life, but excessive training led to severe knee injuries, making even walking painful. She was forced to give up all the activities she loved, and her life came to a halt. With humor and grace, she later joked that she had become the " Self-proclaimed Chairperson of the Bad Knees League." “Did you just see me dancing? Can you believe I once suffered serious knee injuries?” she asked the audience with a smile. Today, Amy moves freely and dances confidently—a testament to the healing power of Qigong.
According to Amy, Tai Ji Men Qigong significantly improved the circulation of energy and blood flow in her knees and also enhanced her mental well-being. Citing Dr. David R. Hawkins’ renowned “Map of Consciousness,” she came to understand the profound principles of Qigong. Amy explained how Qigong uplifts one’s emotional energy, progressing from shame and fear to love and enlightenment. By increasing oxygen intake through breathing techniques, Qigong helps boost physical and mental energy, making it one of the most accessible ways to enhance positive vibrations.
“Qigong tripled my energy. It nourished not only my body but also my soul,” she shared. This transformation helped her rediscover herself and embrace new opportunities in life.
Amy also spoke about volunteering at Tai Ji Men’s Lunar New Year gatherings, where guests from around the world were warmly welcomed. The professional etiquette and confidence of the young volunteers impressed even hotel catering staff, who later invited them to consider careers in hospitality. These experiences empowered Amy to take on new challenges in public speaking, hosting, and performing, helping her evolve into a more confident and complete version of herself.
Amy's father, a renowned botanist at Taiwan’s Academia Sinica, suffered from ankylosing spondylitis for years and relied on painkillers just to get out of bed. After beginning his Qigong practice at Tai Ji Men, he no longer needed medication—a miraculous transformation. Practicing Qigong alongside her father became one of Amy’s most cherished memories.
She also shared before-and-after photos of her husband, illustrating the visible change in his energy and spirit after practicing Qigong—a genuine smile radiating health and joy.
Since 2016, Amy has accompanied Tai Ji Men Zhang-men-ren, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, on cultural goodwill journeys to 15 countries, participating in international forums, summits, and cultural performances to promote the values of conscience, love, and peace. She emphasized that world leaders she met all yearn for a better future for their countries and the world—experiences that gave her immense hope and positivity.
Life, however, is not always smooth sailing. Amy candidly shared how she hit rock bottom after losing her beloved father to cancer and resigning from her job. She drew strength from a teaching by Dr. Hong: “When you help yourself, others and Heaven will also come to your aid.” Encouraged by this wisdom, she continued to cultivate her energy through Qigong and kept growing through adversity.
Drawing on the symbolism of the yin-yang Tai Chi diagram, Amy concluded, “Life requires a balance of safety, health, and happiness—none can be missing. Energy is the key to creating a beautiful life. Once you find it, practice it consistently, and live mindfully, your life will shine.”
